Which bands in your opinion made a sound so extreme that you think it can't be topped? As in, rawness, harshness, speed, etc... I'm interested to see what everyone will say.

Brodequin . When I first heard it it was too intense. And took me awhile to fully appreciate it.
On a side note I was talking with a friend saying that where can death metal go now. It has reached the fastest most brutal songs and vocals. Theres no where left to expand. And with that I feel there will be a saturation point where itll just be all the same stuff over and over again. What will brutal death look like in 100 years? Could be some of the boringest stuff. I feel like 2016 was a saturation point because , even though there were good bands with good structured songs, there was a lot that wasnt new new, not catchy/rememorable. You could take a lot of the releases and put them one after the other and itd sound like one long boring song. But that might just be my opinion.
Sorry for going off track.

Liturgy/Brodequin (brutal overall sound) Putridity (speed/brutality) Enmity (regarding bluntness) Defeated Sanity (brutality+technicality) Delusional Parasitosis (speed/drums) Excoriation (brutality)

Don't know if Orchidectomy can be surpassed for the criteria mentioned. =)

Disgorge (USA) was probably the furthest pushing boundary band and still one of the heaviest bands around
I cant imagine what it was like to listen to their demo back in the 90s. It was intense just hearing Cranial impalement.

Disgorge "Consume The Forsaken" - Absolute pinnacle of all aspects for this kind of music.

None So Vile-era Cryptopsy: Speed, technicality, and the schizophrenic vocals of Lord Worm were total game changers. In my book it's never been repeated.
Defeated Sanity: Every so often, a band comes a long that it just ahead of everyone else. With each new release, they up the ante and somehow manage to top themselves. Defeated Sanity is that for me. They are not of this world.

Can't believe no one said WORMED yet.
Also would have to throw Virulence out there. Hybrid is another excellent one, although not full on DM.

Ok whew, just checking. Yeah sadly unrecognized, but they did play MDF a few years back. Also, Serenadium is being reissued, hopefully this year. I have the same dilemma, never seen it go for less than $50.

Involuntary Convulsion imo. That riffing and drumming is sensational. Also plus to them to still pushing things further, when sometimes it seems, the limit is reached already.

Q.F.E. Last Days are the real definition of Too Extreme!® Yeah I'd say Putrefaction in Progress is pretty close to being the most extreme shit ever without being considered just noise (the genre).
