Also curious about what you guys think of their comeback albums. Upon my initial listen of them last year, I did NOT like them AT ALL. Even tried Resurrection Macabre again and just could not get into it. Trying them out again tonight… Not the entirety of each, just a few songs on each. This is really reminiscent of my Sepultura Roots moment.
Big fan of Arise when I first heard it and having had it on repeat so much that when I heard Roots for the first time it was such a jarring experience for me. Same thing here. Checked out Roots again a few weeks ago after much hesitation with Sepultura period. Roots and these comeback albums are OKAY to me now but… Still just too fucked up from that initial experience and just can't really enjoy these albums much.
Anyway, the Pestilence debut is actually my favorite. From what I've seen, Consuming seems to be the go-to favorite album. I really like those first 4 albums a lot. Especially those tasty solos on Testimony. Woooo boy.

Testimony, all day, everyday. Testimony is my favorite, but they all have a special place for me. I love their last 3 albums also.

I know Spheres always got some hate, but that's probably my 2nd favorite. Great album.

Hm… I'm gonna relisten to their disco sometime soon to see if I've changed my favorite album stance. Need to pick these albums up still… Tocci -- When I was first going through their disco, I actually skipped Testimony by accident and thought Spheres was their 3rd release. Big fan of what they did with that release. goryblasphemy -- Any reason you're not into them? thrsher -- What was wrong with the followups for you?

doctrine was a very boring and uninspired record. obsideo wasn't bad, he wrote music on an 8 string guitar which was interesting but id rather listen to resurrection macabre or an earlier record than the last two.

No reason in particular. Just really doesnt grab me as in, "damn I need to listen to this band" To be fair I havent listened past the first 2 but thats mainly because I have no desire. Maybe if I do some more spins.

I would usually put Spheres but this time I'd put Doctrine. Patrick deserved his maturity as musician to be recognized.
